It was a great day at Atherstone, resulting in two fantastic wins.

Captains Blog – June 2022

June started with gorgeous weather some of it absolutely scorching, so our family fun day looked to be blessed, we woke on Saturday to heavy rain however it relented for about 3 hours so we could play golf and see both Captains mess up with their drives, one in the water and one out of bounds.

Can I thank everyone that turned up and made it a very successful day, I thought the singer was faultless (sarcasm) LOL.

The following day was our men’s open which as always was a success and the weather behaved too, thanks to everyone who helped set the day up especially

Congratulations to husband & wife team Shaun and Sherrie Carter for their success in winning this years Pearl Grubb mixed pairs.

Our teams have had mixed fortunes this month but AGC senior team remain unbeaten well done to all who played.

Plenty of hole in ones this month I personally witnessed 2.

There was a FANTASTIC turn out for the Annual Pearl Grubb Mixed Pairs Competition, which is played with a quirky format of alternate tee offs and shots.  This can result in players playing from positions on the course that they are never usually in!!

12 Couples participated this year and as usual the final results were very close.

Shaun & Sherrie Carter came away victorious beating their playing partners Ann & Mike Randall by just 0.5 of a point.

The Ladies League Team played their second League match away to Shirley GC and once again came away with a 3 - 2 win.  A big thank you to everyone who participated, and well done to those who won.  For such a small section it is hard to consistently field a team, particularly with the new Handicap Index limit for participants!
