AGC Captains Blog
This is my first blog as Captain of Atherstone Golf Club, if I've missed something I'm so sorry.
4th April our AGM seen me inaugurated as AGC Captain, unfortunately due to COVID our previous Captain wasn't able to attend and present my regalia.
April has come and gone and summer golf is almost on us, its a period in our golfing life that we all enjoy very much.
Our annual Easter Egg hunt was blessed with excellent weather and a great turnout of children and adults to search for those chocolate treats, the Easter bonnet parade was a treat with 20+ entries.
Can I thank everyone who helped on the day to make it a very special day, we struck lucky and had a visit from the Easter Bunny, both children and adults enjoyed the visit.
Thank you Easter Bunny for all your hard work.
My wife and I attended our first quiz night and had a great time, thanks to quiz-master Ian Jacob.
Due to legal reasons I'm not allowed to mention the raffle ticket selling, you know who you are and what you did LOL.
During April our toilets and showers were refurbished, sorry for the inconvenience during this period, it has been worth it everyone must agree.
Competitions started in April and have produced some good golf.
Norman Hodge - Tom Challis/Lee Smith.
Austin Cup Qualifier - Lawson Evans.
Denham Trophy - Wally Parker.
Well done everyone.
Seniors mid-week Terry Smith Claret Jug has also started too.
Can I remind everyone that on 18th June we have our family fun day featuring Captains Drive In or is it Bob & Jayne's lay up, you will have to come and find out.
This is followed by the Mens Invitation Open on 19th June, plenty of tee times available.
Although this happened in May, can I thank Neil Smith & Mark Youson for organizing volunteers to help Rob and his greenstaff to tackle those leather jackets grubs.
Can I thank everyone who has shook my hand and congratulated me on being Captain of our great club, the honour is mine to serve everyone of you for 12 months, can I thank Simon Horton for accepting the role of Vice Captain with all that goes with it.
Last but not least congratulations to Jayne Shaw for accepting the role of Lady Captain, a great help to me on Easter Hunt day and congratulations to Mike Ferguson our new Senior Captain.
