Captains Blog – October 2022

Summer golf has been and gone for another year, we had one of the driest periods in living memory.

Almost all of us moaned about fairways not being a true test of golf and almost unplayable, well what a change now, a bit damp under foot.

Despite what weather and wildlife as thrown at us this year, our greens have recovered well and are looking set for this winter, well done Rob and his team.

Champion of Champions dinner was a success again, many thanks to all who helped to make this a great night.

As per normal our winter league started a week late due to rain, I think this may be the 5^th time on the trot.

Congratulations to Mike Ferguson for organising a great day out at Kirby Muxloe for AGC seniors, organised so well he won his own event.

Officially our slope rating will change on 14^th November 2022 but AGC board decided to bring this forward so winter league would play on the same level all year.

Heart of England Champions 2022 - Atherstone GC.

Atherstone Ladies gave it 'a good go' in the Final of the Warwickshire Inter Club League which was played at Handsworth Golf Club on Monday 26th September.

All the matches were extremely close but unfortunately Kenilworth were the victors on this occasion, but praise and congratulations should be given to the everyone in the team who either played in a league match or in the final itself - this is a great achievement for such a small section (especially with the restrictive handicap allowance set by Warwickshire!)
