As the Ladies Captain of Atherstone Golf Club for the season of 2024, may I offer you a sincere and warm welcome, whether you are a member, visitor or merely a ‘website browser.’
It truly is a great honour to become part of this clubs long history and I feel very honoured to be elected as Lady Captain.
I joined Atherstone Golf Club in July 2020 during the pandemic with no golfing experience or handicap.
I proceed to get my 3 cards in was given maximum handicap and advised to get some lessons. Many members past and present asked me why on earth had I joined Atherstone to learn to play golf as it’s a difficult course.
Well I was told if you can play here you can play anywhere. And this course has produced some fine players!
Our ladies section is small, but we are a friendly bunch.
We have members of different standards from beginners to the more experienced golfers and everything in between.
We support Warwickshire County Ladies Golf events and have achieved many successes.
As a club we host a series of qualifying opens during the year for ladies, men, juniors and mixed. We also have friendly competitions with local clubs , our main event being the annual Tripartite Week - 80+ year old tradition of playing the ‘Rose Bowl’ with Hinckley and Nuneaton Golf Clubs.
We also welcome individual visitors, groups and societies bookings can be made directly with the club or through BRS.
The course has its challenges for golfers at all levels you won't be disappointed when you play here. The scenery is stunning throughout the seasons with the variety of flora and fauna.
I am looking forward to the season ahead and hope everyone enjoys their golf this year.
Finally I would like to wish Atherstone Club Captain Mr David Turner a great year.
Here’s to a great year of golf and fingers crossed fine weather.
Kindest regards
Adele Barlow Lady Captain 2024/2025
