I am pleased to say that I am now preparing for my 2nd Term as Ladies Captain as the 2020 season was almost totally (but not quite) wiped out by the Covid Pandemic.
The Section had to amend and adapt it’s competitions and systems, but in true Atherstone fashion, we made the best of a bad job for as long as we could.
Throughout the lockdown periods The Ladies in the section have kept in touch via social media and helped each other through the strange and (for some) difficult periods of isolation.
This is not a surprise, as for such a small section we are a very friendly and inclusive group. Everyone is always there to support, encourage, befriend and (when necessary) commiserate with each other.
The Ladies of Atherstone are a truly special group, who turn up week in, week out, come rain or shine to play our quirky, at times challenging, but always beautiful, course (the views are stunning).
If you are considering joining a golf club for the first time or thinking of changing your club I strongly recommend that you ‘give us a go’.
The Ladies Competition days are Saturday’s & Wednesday’s so we can accommodate both working and part time/retired players. Ladies participate in Stableford, EWGA Medal and Trophy rounds, as well as in matches for the Warwickshire County League and Inter County Ladies Scratch League, also in Competitions such as Daily Mail, Ping, Vets and friendlies with local clubs. The major date in our diary is the annual (80 year old tradition) ‘Rose Bowl’ as part of the Tripartite Week with Hinckley & Nuneaton Golf Clubs. The year is certainly full and has something for everyone.
We also have a very attractive membership fee for Ladies of £550 per year for full membership to the club.
I would be happy to arrange for potential new members to play a trial round with myself or another lady member. I can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org.
We now look forward to the year ahead, fingers crossed that we are able to compete in all of our planned activities uninterrupted and in a safe and controlled manner.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support and encouragement I have been given over the past year and I am looking forward to a much better 2021/22 Season.
