Good morning all, I'm sitting writing the last post of my Captain's tenure and It's been a year full of great days and memories that I have thoroughly enjoyed and will treasure always.
It started with one of the hottest springs and summer on record, it then rained for more than forty days and forty nights (you can actually triple that) and it's finished with a virus!! Not the ideal end to an enjoyable year, but I have had some fun along the way and I hope you guys have too.
Unfortunately losing the annual dinner dance which is considered the season finale is a big evening to lose, but with the severity of the Coronavirus outbreak that is spreading quicker than anyone could have imagined I believe it was the right call to keep our members safe during this time. Hopefully the evening can be rearranged for later in the year when we can get some proper dad dancing going on.
In only a few days I'll be passing over the Captains armband to my vice captain Mr Gary king. I would like to thank Gary for being by my side every step of the way over the last 18 months, he's been brilliant and everything I thought he would be as vice captain, not once has he let me down. I'm sure he will be a great Captain for our club over the next 12 months and wish him an enjoyable time that he truly deserves.
Congratulations also to Jo Trouve who had a difficult start to her year but has proved to be a worthy ladies captain, well done Jo and thank you for your support over the year.
I would also like to wish Jayne Shaw good luck in her role as lady captain, I'm sure Jayne will do a great job in her role and being alongside Gary they will both be good ambassador's for our club.
May I also take this opportunity to thank the board, members of AGC and my family for your continued support and guidance during my tenure, I couldn't have done it without any of you and I really appreciate all of your help.
It's been an absolute honour and a privilege to have held the Captains role at Atherstone Golf Club, but now is time to let go and let Gary go on and do his thing
while I attempt to get my golf game back in shape once we can get back out there and do what we all love doing.
Stay safe everyone and hopefully see you all very soon playing at the club we love.
